Sufi practicum, Class#1 handouts: In practicing Tawba I felt the cleansing action of the heart. In studying the qualities of God new understanding broadened my concepts of God’s greatness. In practicing Remembering the Name, I experimented using “ALLAH” as the name. With this name repeated, I had difficulty merging in congruency with God in my heart. Spending 2 months in Kashmir (95% Muslim) and Ladakh (49% Muslim) last year immersing myself in Islamic life, my heart opened easily to their fervently devotional song-prayers which are amplified throughout the city 5 times per day from the Mosques. But at home, what works best for me are the “native” momentums that have come to belong to me over time. Djwal Kul, in “Intermediate studies of the Human Aura” writes that the Name of God is key, that the archetype of God we choose is that which resonates within the chela’s heart, whether it be the I AM THAT I AM, or the many archetypes of the Mother, the Father, the Holy Spirit—and I would like to add—the Beloved nature kingdom... Jesus called out to his Guru Maitreya “Abba”, meaning “O Father” in Aramaic.. Like Jesus--“I and the Father are one”--the father archetype best activates the flowering of my own heart.
