How did Mother Mary outfox the ego? (Great gold nugget from the Meru Class on Tibetan Buddhism)

Dissatisfaction feeds the dweller ego. Replace this dissatisfaction with appreciation of being in the moment. Appreciate your Higher Self and the Higher Self of others. In other words don't "dwell" on your lower self or the lower self of others.

[Now I can see the connection of "dwelling" on the negative and the "dweller" ego!]

Further teachings on outfoxing the ego-The "seat of the ego" is mental pride and it takes the energy of attention that we give it and covers itself with this chimera. The ego dweller is also fed from the illusory elements of media, TV, etc.. This can be replaced by the practice of meditation. The ritual of meditation can create a living reality that is loving and moving. [See The Jewel Tree of Tibet book by Robert Thurman for more information on Buddhist meditation and the new Jewel Tree of Tibet meditation CD from the Hearts Center.]

I was so happy to find this teaching on outfoxing the ego. I read it to a friend and she asked me to email it to her. She wants to write it up and post it on her mirror. I thought forum readers may appreciate Mother Mary's teaching too.

Appreciate the Good in self and others!

Dweller egos thrive on dissatisfaction!!

Maybe this it what it means to "keep your attention on your I Am Presence"?! By keeping your attention on the God Qualities of yourself and on the God qualities of others, this will, I think, naturally focus your energy on your Presence. (I previously thought to keep your attention on your I Am Presence was to visualize the beautiful colors above you with the Presence in the middle. I didn't think of it in terms of qualities other than love and light. This teaching helps to make focusing on the I Am Presence a little more practical for me. Now I can feel more dimensions of the Presence as I experience and appreciate God qualities in myself and others.

Thank you for sharing your understanding of what it means to “focus on your I Am Presence.”
Last night, just before I went to sleep, I was thinking that it would be a good idea for me to focus on my Presence, and I did not feel I knew exactly what to do.
Like you, I thought about focusing on the colors, and this did not seem to be quite enough. This evening, I will try again with focusing on qualities and virtues both of God in general, and in the specifics of the people I know and love, as well as those I am getting to love! I am grateful for this opportunity to expand my repertoire for my personal practice of meditation.
